SETTING THE SCENEThe University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team will play at home for the first time this season when the Tritons host the UMSL Classic this weekend with Maryville, Lincoln and Minnesota State completing the field. The schedule is as follows:

SIZING UP THE TRITONSUMSL opened the season last weekend in Puerto Rico, where it posted a 1-1 mark. The Tritons lost their opener to UPR-Bayamon, 76-68, before bouncing back to defeat UPR-Rio Piedras, 67-30. Senior
Alexis Lawrence averaged 14.5 points, including a 21-point effort in the loss to Bayamon, where she drained five three-pointers. Junior
Kelly Kunkel added 13.0 points per game and scored a career-best 18 in the win over Rio Piedras, while shooting 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from the field. The Tritons shot 36.9 percent as a team and averaged 46.0 rebounds, snagging 54 in the win over Rio Piedras, including 26 on the offensive end.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTSLincoln improved to 2-0 on Tuesday night with a 66-62 win at McKendree. Kate Frazier leads the Blue Tigers offense, having scored 19 points in each of Lincoln's games, and added 6.0 rebounds per game, while Dorian Briggs follows with 15.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. The Blue Tigers were 5-21 last season.
Minnesota State enters Friday's game against Maryville with a 2-0 record. The Mavericks shot a combined 43.5 percent in defeating Central Missouri and Metro State last weekend and were led by Aubrey Davis, who averaged 15.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game. Minnesota State posted a 23-6 record last season.
SERIES HISTORIESUMSL is 29-18 all-time against Lincoln, but the last two contests have gone to the Blue Tigers, including a 73-68 decision in Jefferson City during the 2012-13 season in the last meeting.
UMSL and Minnesota State have never met on the hardwood in women's basketball.

A LOOK AT OUR SCHEDULEUMSL will play a 26-game schedule this season, including 18 in the GLVC. Of their eight non-conference games, the Tritons will play just three of those at home and will not be at home during the month of December. However, UMSL will travel across town on December 6 to face NCAA Division I Saint Louis University in an exhibition contest and to Lindenwood on December 13. The GLVC schedule begins at home on January 2 against Illinois Springfield.
