Softball Records 22 Hits in GLVC Sweep of Quincy

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The No. 13 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team scored 20 runs on 22 hits in a pair of wins over visiting Quincy on Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
 
Junior Jena Boudreau recorded four hits in the two wins, including three doubles and a homerun, and tallied six RBIs, while junior Brianna Butler also finished with four hits, including two doubles and a homerun, to go with six RBIs. Freshman Alex Stupek added four hits and five RBIs. 10 of the Tritons' 22 hits were for extra base.
 
UMSL improves to 14-2 overall with the wins, including 4-0 in the GLVC, while Quincy slips to 12-14 and 4-6 in the league.
 
The Tritons will host Truman State tomorrow in a 12 p.m. doubleheader.
 
UMSL 11, Quincy 2 (6 innings)
UMSL recorded 11 hits, including three doubles and three homeruns as the offense sparked the win.
 
Butler was 2-for-4 at the plate with five RBIs. She highlighted a four-run third inning with a three-run homerun – her team leading fifth of the season and the 23rd of her career, which ranks third all time. UMSL sent nine batters to the plate in the third inning, in which UMSL took a 5-0 lead.
 
The Tritons also put four runs on the board in the sixth inning, including two from a Butler two-run double and two on a game-ending homerun from Stupek, who was 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs.
 
Junior Hannah Wessels finished with two hits, including a two-run homerun in the fifth inning that extended the advantage to 7-1.
 
Senior Ashleigh King also tallied two hits and reached base in all four plate appearances, drawing two walks.
 
Junior Brittni Chapman picked up the complete game victory in the circle, improving to 7-0 on the season. She scattered four hits and struck out seven.
 
UMSL 9, Quincy 1 (6 innings)
Boudreau went 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and a homerun, driving in UMSL's first six runs. She delivered two-run doubles in the second and fourth innings before a two-run homerun over the centerfield fence in the sixth inning.
 
In addition to Boudreau's homerun in the sixth, Butler had an RBI single, while Stupek again ended the game, this time with a two-run single.
 
Sophomore Hannah Perryman recorded the win in the circle, tossing the complete two-hit game, while striking out 13. The lone run allowed came in the first inning.
