Box Score ROLLA, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team scored four goals in the first 13 minutes and never looked back en route to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Baptist on Sunday evening on the final day of the GLVC-MIAA Crossover, hosted by Missouri S&T.
The Tritons, which improved to 1-0-1 with the win, owned a 7-1 lead after the first half. Southwest Baptist dropped to 0-3 with the loss.
Junior
Tyler Collico accounted for two goals, both of which came in a span of 1:27, and also added an assist, while junior
Jon Huelsman finished with one goal and two assists. Five different players scored, while another two accounted for at least an assist.
UMSL owned a 24-6 advantage in shots, including a 12-2 edge in shots on goal. The Tritons scored seven goals on 10 shots in the opening 45 minutes.
Senior
Nick Lenkman played all 45 minutes of the opening half to collect the win. He faced five shots, allowing one goal and recording one save. The Bearcats scored just 2:50 into the game before the Tritons reeled off nine unanswered goals.
The nine goals scored were the most in a single game since UMSL defeated Upper Iowa, 9-2, in 2004.
UMSL returns to action on Friday, hosting Bellarmine in its home and Great Lakes Valley Conference openers.
