INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has released its list of Academic All-Conference selections for the 2016-17 academic year, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis had a record 101 student-athletes receive recognition for their academic accomplishments.
 
All 13 of UMSL's sports programs were represented on the list women's soccer and volleyball accounting for the most with 12 student-athletes from each sport being named. Women's tennis had the highest percentage of team members, with seven of eight student-athletes being honored.
 
The 101 student-athletes honored betters the previous record of 91 set last year.
 
There were a total of 50 student-athletes who were repeat recipients for this award, having been named at least once before during their career, including four-time honorees Matt Barry (men's golf), DJ Bednar (men's soccer), Evan Garrad (men's soccer), Andreas Kefalas (men's basketball), Sara Kern (softball), Rachel Matthies (softball), Miranda Rohlfing (women's golf) and Alex Stupek (softball).
  
The Academic All-GLVC honor is bestowed upon student-athletes who meet a cumulative GPA of 3.30 over two semesters of an academic year at the institution.
 
In all, more than 2,900 student-athletes from 16 member schools garnered Academic All-GLVC distinction.
