CHICAGO – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's swimming team recorded 10 top 10 finishes, set a school record an picked up a B-cut on Friday on the first day of competition at the University of Chicago Phoenix Fall Classic.
The Triton 200 free relay foursome of
Ava Boehning,
Sarah Nelson,
Franziska Hauptmann and
Kate Nelson won the race in a time of 1:34.38 while the quartet of
Stephanie Schoemans,
Kristen Stalder,
Madison Bottorff and
Natalie Arthur came in sixth with a time of 1:40.00.
Three swimmers finished in the top 20 of the 200 individual medley. Schoemans took fourth in a time of 2:08.93.
Zara Konstapel came in 10th at 2:15.80 and
Lily Franzen was 17th at 2:14.06.
Isabella Gruidl was sixth in the 500 free with a time of 5:05.69 while
Rebecca Bechtel finished 19th at 5:18.05.
Boehning finished third in the 50 free with a school record time of 23.74 seconds and also picked up a B-cut time for nationals. K. Nelson finished eighth with a time of 24.08. S. Nelson was right behind her in ninth at 24.49, Bottorff took 17th with a time of 24.73 and Stalder was 18th at 24.84.
The Triton 400 medley relay team of Schoemans, Konstapel, Stalder and K. Nelson was third at 3:51.18. The team of Gruidl,
Cheyanne Godleski,
Callie Clinton and Bottorff was 13th at 4:00.76 and the quartet of
Brooklyn Messenger,
Olivia Gawronski, Bechtel and Arthur finished 14th with a time of 4:06.76.
The Phoenix Fall Classic continues on Saturday with the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and 800 free relay.
