Women’s Basketball Hosts Elite Prospect Camp

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball program held its annual Elite Prospect Camp last Thursday at Chuck Smith Court inside the Mark Twain Building.

The camp was held for players grades nine through 12 and included competitive local talent as well as talent from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky and Wisconsin. The camp was run like a college practice with high intensity drills and competitive games.

"We had one of the best turnouts as far as talent, effort and energy," UMSL head women's basketball coach Katie Vaughn said. "A huge thank you to Coach Emily Samuelson and our players for their part in making elite camp a success.

"Elite camp is a great way to not only work with prospective student-athletes one on one but also interact with our current players on a different level," Vaughn said. "The future is bright for UMSL WBB, that was very evident with the high-level players that participated and the energy our players brought."

The Tritons finished the 2021-22 season with a record of 23-6 including 17-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, won the GLVC's Central Division and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history.
