Men’s Soccer Heads to Illinois For Pair, Including Match with No. 14 Illinois Springfield

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team heads to the road for the final time in the 2023 regular season this weekend with a pair of games in the state of Illinois, beginning with a matchup on Friday against the 14th ranked team in NCAA Division II.

The Tritons, 2-7-2 overall and 1-7-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, will face No. 14 Illinois Springfield Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Kiwanis Stadium before playing their final road contest Sunday at Quincy at 2:30 p.m.

Last Time Out – UMSL dropped a pair of one-goal contests last weekend. It dropped a 2-1 decision against Upper Iowa last Friday with Bobby Boone scoring for the Tritons and then lost to Truman 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Boone, Devin Livingstone and Luca Saewe are tied for the team lead in scoring with six points. Boone has two goals and two assists while Livingstone and Saewe are tied for the team lead with three goals apiece. Ty Gordon is tied with Boone with two goals scored.

Austin Reis has played every minute in goal this season and has made 41 saves, posted two shutouts and has a 0.745 save percentage.

About Illinois Springfield – The Prairie Stars bring an overall record of 9-1-3 and an 8-0-1 GLVC mark for 25 points into Friday night's contest. UIS is unbeaten in its last nine contests and hasn't lost since Sept. 9 when it dropped a 2-1 decision at Purdue Northwest.

Joe Conway leads the Prairie Stars in scoring with 11 points this season and is tied for the team lead with five along with Adrian Adames and Or Levinstein. Adames and Levinstein are tied for second with 10 points.

Andrea Scapolo has played 932 minutes in goal this season and has allowed three goals, has a goals against average of 0.29 and posted seven shutouts.

About Quincy – The Hawks bring a 4-7-2 overall record including a GLVC mark of 3-4-2 for 11 points heading into Friday's contest versus McKendree. Quincy is currently eighth in the conference standings one point ahead of Upper Iowa for the final playoff spot. The Hawks are 2-0-2 in their last four contests since ending a four-game losing streak.

Rennato Ramos leads the team in scoring with two goals and five assists for a total of nine points while Lewis Chapman is second with seven points and leads the squad with three goals scored.

George Rook has started all 13 games in goal and has a goals against average of 2.00, has made 60 saves and posted two shutouts.

Up Next – The Tritons wrap up the regular season next weekend hosting Drury next Friday at 5 p.m. and Southwest Baptist on Sunday at noon. The team will honor its five seniors prior to the start of Sunday's contest.
