ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Friday Night Spikes Meet on Friday evening in Terre Haute, Indiana.
The Triton women picked up 16 top 10 finishes led by
Haeley Johnson who finished second in the long jump with a leap of 4.92 meters (16-01.75) and was third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.36 seconds.
Kennedy Moore won the 400 meters in a time of 1:03.82 and was third in the 200 meters at 28.54 seconds.
Dominica Rooks finished fourth in the 400 at 1:05.28 and was sixth in the 200 at 28.74 seconds.
UMSL had five runners finish in the top seven of the mile run led by
Lily Wagemann finished second with a time of 5:39.93.
Kayley Heeter took third at 5:43.52, Petyon Brueck,
Ella Tynan and
McKenna Kramer finished fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
Wagemann and Tynan took first and third in the 800 meters. Wagemann crossed the line first at 2:39.29 followed by Tynan at 2:45.81.
Heeter, Brueck and
Megan McMillen finished second, third and fourth in the 3,000 meters with times of 11:57.72, 12:14.37 and 12:32.29 respectively.
The Triton men had 12 top 10 finishes including two event wins.
Toby Middleton won the mile run in a time of 4:28.90,
Gavin Love was second at 4:31.60 and
Matthias Shelp came in 10th at 4:45.45.
Michael Wright and Middleton were third and fifth in the 800 meters with times of 2:08.79 and 2:18.91 respectively.
UMSL claimed the top seven spots in the 3,000 meters led by
Jacob Warner who won the race in a time of 8:50.46.
Brett Lynch edged out
Sam Savastino for second by 0.28 seconds. Lynch finished at 9:11.14 with Savastino coming in at 9:11.42.
Sean Ede took fourth at 9:28.40, Shelp finished fifth in a time of 9:33.90 while Love and Wright were sixth and seventh with times of 9:52.92 and 10:20.05 respectively.
The Tritons are back in next Friday as they travel to Pittsburg, Kansas to compete in the Eighth Annual Gorilla Indoor Classic at Pittsburg State.
