ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up its indoor season at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday at the Athletic Recreation Center (ARC) in Indianapolis.
The Tritons recorded a total of six top 10 finishes in the meet.
Benjamin VandenBrink and
Bailey Riley had the highest finishes of the meet for UMSL. VandenBrink finished fifth in the 5,000 meters on Saturday with a time of 15:04.10 while Riley was fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.92 meters (45'8").
Rashad Smith and
Caleb Cody-Jackson each recorded sixth place finishes. Smith was sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.89 meters (45'7") and Cody-Jackson was sixth in the 400 meters at 49.23 seconds.
Cody-Jackson finished seventh in the 200 meters (22.08 seconds) and the distance medley relay team of
Caleb Leach,
Gavin Love,
Sean Keys and
Will Kaempfe also finished seventh at 10:28.49.
For the UMSL women,
Kennedy Moore and
Melissa White competed in the triple jump. Moore finished 12th overall with a mark of 10.35 meters (33'11.5") while White's best leap was 9.85 meters (32'3.75") to finish 16th.
At the end of the meet Leach and White were named UMSL's nominees for the GLVC's James R. Spalding Sportsmanship award handed out at the end of the year at the Spring Awards Banquet in May.
