ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's track and field teams competed in their final tune-up before next weekend's Great Lakes Valley Conference championship on Friday at the Millikin Big Blue Friday Night Invite in Decatur, Ill.
The Tritons had four individuals set personal records (PRs) and three others recorded season best marks/times.
UMSL's men recorded 12 top 10 finishes at the meet with
Toby Middleton winning the 1500 with a season-best time of 3:57.12.
Will Kaempfe was second in the event at 4:00.38 while
Benjamin VandenBrink finished third in a time of 4:01.00.
Willem Hummel and
Caleb Leach finished seventh and eighth in the 800 meters with times of 1:59.12 and 2:00.07 respectively.
Emmett Johnson and
Sebastian Meyer finished in the top five of the 5,000 meters. Johnson was second at 15:35.10 while Meyer finished fifth with a time of 15:56.03.
On the women's side,
Zoey Losch ran a season best time of 24:00.84 to finish third in the 5,000 while
Bridget Ragan and
Ansley Casey were second and fifth in the 800 with times of 2:30.12 and 2:34.55 respectively.
Melissa White came in fourth in the triple jump with a season best leap of 10.26 meters (33'8.00") while
Rebekah Vail finished fifth in the hammer throw with a heave of 31.11 meters (102'0") and sixth in the discus with a throw of 27.20 meters (89'03").
The Tritons compete at the GLVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships next Thursday (May 1) – Saturday (May 3) at Lewis Stadium in Romeoville, Ill.
