ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team has been tabbed for an eighth-place finish in the Great Lakes Valley Conference for the upcoming season. The poll was voted on by the league's 14 head coaches and per league policy coaches were not eligible to vote for their own teams.
Maryville is the favorite to repeat as conference champions as the Saints received 160 total points and eight first-place votes. McKendree was picked to finish second with 142 points and received one first place vote while Rockhurst came in third and Drury was fourth.
The league's 14 teams will compete in a 13-game, round-robin schedule that begins on September 15 and runs through October 29.
The 2023 GLVC Championship Tournament begins on November 5 at campus sites with the semifinals and finals to be held at Corwin Clatt Stadium in East Peoria, Ill., Nov. 10-12.
UMSL is coming off a 6-7-5 record including 3-4-5 in the GLVC and advanced to the semifinal round of the GLVC Tournament for the second consecutive season.
The Tritons are under the direction of fourth year head coach
Maddi Moon and return 13 players from last year's team including third team All-GLVC selection
Candice Parziani who was second on the team in scoring last season with three goals and four assists for a total of 10 points.
Mary Kate Neal returns in goal after making 20 saves and posting two shutouts last season.
UMSL kicks off its 43rd season of intercollegiate play on September 1 hosting Northwest Missouri State at 5 p.m. at Don Dallas Field. The Tritons play their first four games of the season at home.
