Box Score ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team concluded play at the SIUE Invitational on Saturday dropping both of its singles matches but won its doubles match. The Tritons fell to Lindenwood 4-2 and SIUE 5-1 but beat Southern Indiana 3-0.
UMSL began the day with a match against the Lions. The Tritons took the first two singles contests as
Anna Domingo defeated Juliana Kulczynski 6-3, 6-4 and
Hannah Tse knocked off Fabiana Labrador 7-5, 6-4. Lindenwood won the next four matches as Elisa Dornelles defeated
Sasha Lopez 7-6 (7-4) and 7-6 (7-3),
Anna Favaron fell to Yana Gaskell 6-3, 6-3,
Lauren Sweeney lost to Jordan Le 6-4, 6-1 and
Kaitlyn Challis won the first set over Eveline Nilsson 6-2 but Nilsson rallied to win the final two sets 6-0, 10-7.
UMSL won all three doubles matches against USI. Tse and
Maja Lietzau beat Lauren Rowe and Madison Windham 6-4, Lopez and Domingo won over Abby Myers and Rachel McCorkle 6-2 and Sweeney and Favaron defeated Lily Meyer and Khandice Thomas 6-2.
In their final match of the weekend the Triton took on the host Cougars. Domingo fell to Jill Lambrechts 6-1, 6-3, Lietzau lost to Jordan Schifano 6-0, 6-1, Tse was defeated by Margaux Guibal Britt 6-1, 6-1, Lopez won the first set over Amelia Gorman 6-3 but dropped the next two 6-2, 10-0. Favaron defeated Cydney Rogers 7-5, 6-2 and Sweeney lost to Paula Guillen Cerver 6-1, 6-2.
UMSL is back in action on Friday (Oct. 6) as it hosts Missouri Baptist in its final match of its fall season at 2 p.m. at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
