ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team concludes its three-game road swing on Saturday as it heads to Lebanon, Ill., to take on McKendree, one of the top teams in the GLVC, on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Melvin Price Convocation Center.
The Tritons (12-13, 10-9 GLVC) enter Saturday's contest battling it out with Indianapolis and Upper Iowa for the final two spots in the GLVC Tournament. UMSL is currently ninth in the GLVC's Point Rating System with a rating of 3.105 and trails the Greyhounds and Peacocks by .006. Lewis currently sits atop the standing with a PRS of 4.17 followed by Drury at 4.11 and McKendree is third at 4.00.
The Tritons are coming off a 77-70 win at Southwest Baptist last Saturday.
Mara Rieder led the way scoring a career-high 34 points on 12-of-16 shooting and was 10-for-11 from the foul line.
Morgan Ramthun finished with a double-double scoring 10 points and grabbing a career-high 15 rebounds.
Amaya Blake and
Alex Wolff added 10 points apiece in the win.
Jalysa Stokes continues to lead the team and the GLVC in scoring this season with 18.8 points per game while Ramthun is tied for fifth in rebounding in the league at 8.2 boards per contest.
About McKendree – The Bearcats enter Saturday's contest with a record of 18-7 overall including 14-5 in the GLVC and are coming off an 87-75 loss at Drury last Saturday. It was a one-point game heading into the final quarter when Drury pulled away for the victory.
McKendree had five players reach double figures in scoring in that contest led by Christy Fortune with 20 points while Clare Breden added 16 points. Naomi McDaniel finished with 11 points and Madyson Harper and Erin Golden added 10 points apiece.
Breden leads the Bearcats and is second in the GLVC in scoring with her 17.7 points per contest. She is also sixth in the conference in field goal percentage at 47.2 percent. Fortune and Harper are two of the top three-pointer shooters in the conference this season. Fortune has connected on 43.3 percent of her attempts while Harper is shooting 40.4 percent from the perimeter. McDaniel leads the team in rebounding with 8.0 boards per outing.
McKendree won the first meeting this season 52-48 back on January 13 at the Mark Twain Building.
