ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's track and field teams resumed their indoor season at the Illinois College Snowbird Invite at King Fieldhouse on Saturday in Jacksonville, Ill.
The Tritons finished the day with 17 top 10 finishes for the day.
On the men's side,
Benjamin VandenBrink won the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:39.87. He was joined in the top 10 of the event by
Will Kaempfe who finished seventh (9:07.57),
Sebastian Meyer was eighth (9:08.39) and
Luke Stevenson came in ninth (9:09.98).
Caleb Cody-Jackson had two top five finishes on the day. He was second in the 400 meters (50.69 seconds) and third in the 200 meters at 22.95 seconds.
Rashad Smith and
Bailey Riley finished third and fifth in the triple jumps with leaps of 13.35 meters (43'9.75") and 12.98 meters (42'7") respectively.
Caleb Leach was UMSL's top finisher in the mile with a time of 4:27.24 and
Gavin Love took fifth in the 800 meters (2:01.45).
On the women's side,
Kennedy Moore finished third and
Melissa White was seventh in the triple jump. Moore jumped a season best 10.83 meters (35'6.5") in her second attempt in the finals while White's best leap came in her third attempt in the prelims hitting a mark of 10.10 meters (33'1.75").
Rebekah Vail was 14th in the shot put at 10.12 meters (33'2.5") and 23rd in the weight throw with a mark of 10.46 meters (34'4").
UMSL returns to the track next Friday and Saturday (Jan. 31-Feb. 1) at the Principia Relays at the Coach Crafton Athletic Center in Elsah, Ill.
