Women’s Hoops Picked To Finish Fourth In GLVC Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team has been picked to finish fourth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Preseason Poll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning. The annual GLVC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll was voted on by the league coaches and rank all 15 teams in predicted order of finish.

Drury was picked as the favorite to win the league championship with 191 points, including 10 of the available first-place votes. Conference bylaws state a school cannot vote for itself. Maryville, last season's runner-up, was picked second, garnering 165 points in the poll. Lewis, last season's regular season champs, came in third with 163 points and four first-place votes while the Tritons had 158 points. Missouri S&T rounded out the top five with 141 points and the final first-place vote.

The top eight teams with the most points derived from the GLVC's Point Rating System at the end of the regular season will earn a berth to the GLVC Basketball Championship Tournament on March 5-8 at UMSL's Mark Twain Building.

Under the direction of 14th-year head coach Katie Vaughn, UMSL is coming off a 19-9 record including 13-7 in the GLVC and advanced to the GLVC Tournament for the fourth time in the last five years.

The Tritons return six players from last year's team including Second Team All-GLVC selection Alex Wolff. Wolff is the team's top returning scorer with 10.0 points per game and added 19 blocked shots and eight steals. Senior Morgan Ramthun is the team's top returning rebounder with 8.7 rebounds per game last season and junior Mara Rieder averaged 9.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 0.9 blocked shots per game.

Seasons tickets are on sale now. Packages are $135 for adults and $108 for children. Single game tickets go on sale starting next Monday (Oct. 27).

UMSL begins the 2025-26 season on November 14 at Roosevelt at 1 p.m. in Chicago, Ill. The home opener for the Tritons is slated for Tuesday (Nov. 25) against Purdue Northwest at 2 p.m. at the Mark Twain Building.
