ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's track and field teams had a strong showing at the Principia Relays combining for 15 top five finishes on Friday and Saturday in Elsah, Ill.
For the men,
Caleb Leach won the mile in a time of 4:26.46 while
Armando Montoya was fourth at 4:28.71.
Caleb Cody-Jackson finished second in the 200 meters (22.44 seconds),
Will Kaempfe,
Sebastian Meyer and
Luke Stevenson were third, fourth and fifth with times of 8:49.43, 8:53.41 and 8:57.18 respectively.
UMSL's 4x800 meter relay team of Leach,
Sean Keys,
Gavin Love and Montoya took third with a time of 8:20.26.
The Tritons went third through fifth in the distance medley relay led by the quartet of Leach,
Willem Hummel,
Clayton Schneider and
Emmett Johnson who came in third at 10:43.12.
Bailey Riley capped the day for the men with a third-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.73 meters (45'0.5").
For the women,
Kennedy Moore won the triple jump with a leap of 10.84 meters (35'6.75") while
Melissa White was fifth at 9.90 meters (32'5.75").
Bridget Ragan was the runner-up in the mile at 5:35.00 and
Bella Massaro came in third in the 3,000 meters with a time of 12:01.94.
UMSL returns to the track next Friday and Saturday sending split teams to the Northwest Missouri Bearcat Invite on Friday and Saturday starting at 5 p.m. and to Bloomington, Ill., for the Illinois Wesleyan Keck Select Invite at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
