ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Grand Valley State Big Meet and the Washburn Ichabod Invite on Friday and Saturday.
The Tritons picked up five top 10 finishes on the weekend.
At the GVSU Big Meet on Friday, UMSL had eight runners compete in five different sections of the 5,000 meters.
Benjamin VandenBrink finished second in his heat with a personal best time of 14:24.05 shattering his previous by 12 seconds.
Sebastian Meyer finished sixth in his heat of the 5,000 at 15:29.02.
On Saturday at the GVSU Big Meet, the Tritons had six individuals compete in the 3,000 meters and were led by VandenBrink who finished sixth overall (8:27.98).
At Washburn,
Caleb Cody-Jackson had the best finish of the weekend for UMSL finishing second in the 400 meters at 48.63 seconds. He also finished 18th in the 200 meters (22.02 seconds).
Rashad Smith and
Bailey Riley finished eighth and 14thin the triple jump with jumps of 13.93 meters (45'8.5") and 13.59 meters (44'7").
For the women,
Kennedy Moore was 22nd in the triple jump with a mark of 10.61 meters (34'09.75") and 30th in the long jump at 5.00 meters (16'5").
Bella Massaro finished 37th in the 3,000 meters at 11:51.11 and
Bridget Ragan was 43rd in the mile (5:35.95).
Both teams compete in their final tune-up meet before the Great Lakes Valley Conference championships in two weeks next Friday at the Illinois College Hilltop Classic at 5 p.m. in Jacksonville, Ill.
