ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's track and field teams returned to competition on Saturday sending athletes to the Northwest Missouri Bearcat Invite in Maryville, Mo., and to the Keck Select Invite hosted by Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, Ill.
At the Bearcat Invite, the Tritons got a second place finish from
Rashad Smith in the triple jump as he set a new school record with his leap of 14.13 meters (46'4.25") while
Bailey Riley took seventh in the event with a mark of 13.76 meters (45'1.75").
Benjamin VandenBrink finished fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a season best time of 8:26.42.
Caleb Cody-Jackson took sixth in the 200 meters (22.02 seconds) and seventh in the 400 meters in a school record time of 48.69 seconds.
For the women,
Kennedy Moore took 11th in the triple jump with a leap of 10.64 meters (34'11.00") and was 26th in the long jump with a mark of 4.82 meters (15'9.75").
At the Keck Invite, UMSL got a 16th place finish from
Sean Keys in the 800 meter as he ran a personal best time of 2:01.46.
Gavin Love took 17th in the mile at 4:33.07.
For the women,
Rebekah Vail was 20th in the shot put with a heave of 10.42 meters (34'2.25") and 26th in the weight throw with a mark of 10.99 meters (36'0.75").
Bridget Ragan finished 24th in the mile with a personal best time of 5:38.51.
The Tritons are back in action next weekend competing at Grand Valley State's Big Meet next Friday and Saturday and at Washburn's Ichabod Invite also on Friday and Saturday.
