BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team is headed back to the NCAA Championships after finishing second with a 54-hole team score of 872 (293-295-284) at the NCAA Midwest/Central Regional, held Thursday-Saturday at Katke Golf Club in Big Rapids, Mich.
It marks the 14th NCAA Championship appearance for the program and the eighth under the direction of 18th-year head coach
Troy Halterman.
Grand Valley State took home the team title finishing with a team score of 867 (286-287-294) to win by five shots over the Tritons. Central Missouri claimed the other automatic bid with a score of 873 (294-280-299). Washburn was the final team to punch its ticket to the NCAA Championships finishing fourth with a score of 879 (295-288-296).
Individually, junior
Dani Solavera finished second with a score of 213 (73-71-69) while sophomore
Trigg Lindahl finished in a tie for fourth at 215 (73-73-69).
Central Missouri's CJ Phillips was the individual medalist with a score of 211 (68-66-77). Fort Hays State Cooper Scheck and Winona State's Peyton Coahran were the region's individual qualifiers for the championships.
UMSL will compete in the NCAA Men's Golf Championships, May 18-22 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
