COACH (Women's Soccer)
Ken Hudson was the first head coach of the women’s soccer program at UMSL, guiding the team for 16 seasons from 1981 through 1996, which is the second longest head coaching tenure for a head coach in any sport at UMSL. Hudson finished with a career record of 192-96-23, for a winning percentage of .654. Hudson led the team to a school record 16 wins in a season on two occasions, in his first year in 1981 and again in his final season in 1996. He had just one losing season during his career and eclipsed the 10-win mark in 14 of his 16 seasons. He guided UMSL to the AIAW tournament in 1981 and two straight NCAA Tournaments in 1982 and 1983, including a trip to the final four in the 1982 NCAA Tournament. That same season he was named Regional Coach of the Year by the NSCAA. Hudson coached a total of 15 All-American players at UMSL, 55 all-region players and three Academic All-Americans during his career. Prior to coaching at UMSL, Hudson was a player for the men’s soccer team and was a starter on the 1973 national championship team.
